Recently, I published a post about Halloween icon sets, in case designers want more and different icons, today I’ve got something really nice for you. Yeah, it is a great collection of icon resource websites. Let’s go through them one by one.
1. YOOtheme
YOOtheme is probably my favorite icon site among the 10 websites listed here, as you can see I place it at the beginning of this list. You might as well love it after visiting. Founded in 2007, it has a history of 5 years now. YOOtheme has a very clean interface, no distracting ads, no unnecessary text descriptions, all you see is nice and delicately designed icons placed right in the center of the whole webpage. YOOtheme also provides visitors the entire process of how an icon is created, from sketching, vectorizing, coloring and lighting, YOOtheme focuses on each step until the icon is done. Besides icons, it also provides themes and widget kits.

2. IconFinder
Started in the year 2007, IconFinder has been focusing on providing high quality icons for web designers and developers in an easy and efficient way. According to data, IconFinder has a unique visitor base of 1,100,000. Its homepage looks quite similar to that of Google’s, the only difference is that IconFinder will show you icons once you entered keywords. You can also filter icons by background color, file size and license. For example, IconFinder will show you 611 results for key words of “free icon”.

3. Free Icons Web
FreeIconsWeb.com was launched in 2006. As the name indicates, icons on this website are free! The website itself has a very modern look with creative header and footer. You can download icons for free here and it also provides a platform for icon designers to submit their works and share with fellow visitors. Apart from icons, you can also find free vectors.

4. FindIcons
FindIcons is a little like IconFinder. Even their names are alike to some extent. It is also an icon search engine. By entering keywords, you get your ideal icons. It is said that FindIcons has the largest searchable free icons database in the world and both a sophisticated search filtering and result matching system make it possible for visitors to get an icon they need. FindIcons tracks every search query and manually adjusts the results according to the average ratings set by the search results from users.

5. Icon Dock
IconStock is created by N.Design Studio. The website provides premium icons but sometimes it also gives away free icons for users to download. Icons in IconStock are scalable, thus users can export them to any size for web purposes or high resolution print materials based on their need. Also, icons can be edited with vector software like Adobe Illustrator.

6. The Icon Deposit
Icon Deposit gives its users the opportunity to post their icons, designs, code and screenshots to promote their work and gain more clients. Here, you can find hundreds of icons and icon sets for your projects. Most of the icons are free to use while some requires a tweet before download.

7. All free Download.com
All-free-download.com provides not only free icons, users can also find free vector, free photos, free website templates and other stuff related with web design. The resources on this site are for free. It also integrates with another famous graphic design website, Shutterstock. At the bottom part of All-free-download.com, a list of popular search keywords is shown to help its users find appropriate search keywords. For instance, the keyword “blue icon” returned with 563 items.

8. IconShock
IconShock has a pretty long history of 8 years now, dealing business in conceptualizing and creating icons. They provide near 500,000 unique icons with high quality, some are free of charge, others require payment. IconShock updates quite often, that they release 3 new icon sets each week, which means that about 5000 new unique icons are added every week.

9. Web Icon Set
Established in 2009, Webiconset deals with professional icons for all kinds of designers. Webiconset has a well organized webpage layout, by clicking on a small screenshot of the icons, a larger version zooms in for better observation of the icons. Webiconset provides three modes for users. Moonlighters can have access to free icons, and no sign up required. For premium users, there are two choices, freelancer membership lasts for one year with a price of $49, while business membership lasts for three years with $99.

10. Icon Archive
Icon Archive is a professional tag based icon search engine with more than 330,000 icons for web developers, end users and graphic artists. Icon Archive went through three stages of development till it becomes what it is today, originally it started in as early as 1994 and enjoys a good reputation among the industry that BBC World once covered it in one of their weekly TV shows named ”Click”.
